Recommendations

To continue with our idea of taking Peckish Foods online we have came up with the following recommendations.

We suggest that the company:
  • Create both a Facebook and a LinkedIn social networking page.
  • Peckish Foods should create a page based on the business and add links to photos and product.
  • Undertake a staff analysis in order to establish whether any employees are capable of creating and updating the pages to avoid hiring someone outwith the company.
  • Establish what security measures you are placing on the pages i.e. will customers be able to upload photos or videos?
  • Do some research of other business social networking pages to see what they have done, i.e. Marks and Spencers.
  • Promote the fact that the company has joined these groups online through your website and on posters/flyers instore. Investigate and look at the profiles of the users who "like" Peckish Foods page. This will help to write more engaging posts.
  • Ensure that Peckish Foods publishes updates on their wall regularly. Status updates will engage Facebook users. Peckish Foods can ask questions about what they think of goods and services that they provide. Ask them poll type questions and create surveys. Respond to the audience as developing conversations creates more activity on Peckish Foods Facebook page.
  • Arrange an event through Facebook to boost customer interest and boost sales for example, a wine tasting event.
  • Create a mailing list of customers that you can alert about promotions, products etc through email and text messages to mobile phones.
  • Add the suppliers that they have onto their linked-in page.
  • Make a blog. Blogs are free and easy to use. A blog would be a great way of telling customers about yourself and daily life in the store. Also, a combination of Facebook with other social media tools such as a blog or in the future joining Twitter, will engage more with customers and create interest in the company. For example, if someone asks a question about an aspect of the business, Peckish Foods can reply in detail in a blog post and post a link to the blog on their social networking sites.
